Digital Preservation in State Government: Best Practices Exchange 2006 was the first Exchange of its kind. This rich 2-day forum allowed librarians, archivists, records managers, and other information professionals to share their own experiences in managing and preserving digital state government information for public access.
The Exchange fostered the collaboration between Libraries and Archives pioneered by the The National Digital Information Infrastructure and Preservation Program (NDIIPP), in addition to building the foundations for a community of practice.
Participants included practitioners in government and university archives and libraries; educators/researchers in the fields of library science, information science, technology, archives, and records management; and product developers working to create systems for managing and preserving digital assets.
Participants shared their experiences, successes and failures in facilitated Exchange Sessions. All discussions were recorded on large murals to inspire further discussion while many of the Exchange Sessions were also recorded visually, by Visual Journalist, Eileen Clegg from Visual Insight.
